ibm mq - How can I detect use of a remote queue definition? - Stack Overflow

We have lots of old channels and queues that I suspect are not being used. In the case of remote queue definitions, how can I, from the MQ side, determine whether they are in use?

It seems that all means of observing queues cannot be done for remote queues. Queue statistics and accounting cannot be used. There appears to be no status information available. Even streaming is not allowed on a transmission queue.

It seems the only way is to set up a 'machine in the middle' to capture each message and send it on, which has performance implications (not to mention being fiddly and therefore risky).

Other than looking at the application side, is there a way to do this?
