user permissions - Azure Devops - Workitem option is missing 'Move to Position' - Stack Overflow

I have a user on my team who wants to use the "Move to Position" option on work items, but the option is not available.

I tried to figure out how to manage this permission, but I couldn't find it.

Can anyone help me?

  • Can the user manually drag the work item to change its position within the column? Also, can the user edit this work item? Not sure if it might be a permission issue. Could you share a screenshot of the menu options available in that user's view? Additionally, is there a chance that the user is looking at the Sprint board instead of the Team’s board? – Alvin Zhao - MSFT Commented Apr 1 at 1:36
  • Hi @AndrewMaia, Good day. Would you check if the issue can be resolved if changing the user's access level from Stakeholder to Basic as suggested in my answer below? Thx for the update. – Alvin Zhao - MSFT Commented Apr 2 at 8:41

Reset to default 0

The option to Move to Position is not available for the uses at the Stakeholder access level in this Azure DevOps Organization. You may evaluate if it is necessary to assign a more privileged license for that user like Basic (5 free Basic licenses) and request the user to check again once granted.

See features that a Stakeholder can't use.
