I am trying to speed up the Readthedocs build for a python project with executed docs. The project is a rust library with python bindings built by maturin. Installing rust and building the library takes the majority of the time (in part because it requires installing rust via conda as RTD does not support a high enough rust version). In github actions I am already generating python wheels and would like to use those artifacts for the RTD build.

How can I upload the built wheel to readthedocs to install the package for the docs build? I would then like to use the generated wheel in the python.install step

I have seen / but that is not quite what I'm looking for as it seems to tie the execution of the docs to the CI infrastructure which would mess with the ability to build it locally.
