Why won't Elementor save my changes to my WordPress website? - Stack Overflow

programmeradmin4浏览0评论

I'm designing a new website using Elementor and WordPress. The site is being built offline, on my local hard drive, which I'm using as my localhost until finish the site. At that point, I'll transfer it to a real hosting service where it will live online.

Everything was progressing well...until today.

Elementor abruptly stopped saving my work. When I click the purple drop down menu at the upper-right of the window and select Save Draft, I no longer see the spinning wheel in that menu. The progress bar at the top of the window moves seemingly as usual. But then, when I try to close or navigate away from the page, a message is displayed stating that I could lose the changes I made. When I close the window then reopen the same file, the changes have, indeed, vanished.

I haven't seen any other errors or messages. But, obviously, the inability to save has stopped the design of my site in its tracks.

As far as I know, I'm using the latest versions of WordPress and Elementor. All my plugins have been already been updated, as far as I can see.

What is happening and what must I do to regain the ability to save?

Thanks for your input.

Reset to default 2

I've had this problem before.

To debug the problem, I modified the constants in the wp-config.php file:

define('WP_DEBUG', true);
define('WP_DEBUG_LOG', true);
define('WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', false);

Logs are written to the file wp-content/debug.log.

Then I realized that in my case it was a PHP memory limitation problem, so I modified my php.ini as follows:

max_execution_time = 300
memory_limit = 256M
post_max_size = 64M
upload_max_filesize = 64M

This solved the problem for me. Take a close look at the debug.log file to understand the problem better. If the problem persists, don't hesitate to show us what the debug.log file looks like, so that we can guide you towards a solution.
