(Warming up & Reading)教案

授课人:施建华

Understanding of the teaching material:

本单元阅读部分是整个单元最重要的部分,介绍了空气污染,水污染等环境污染问题以及我们应

采取的措施。通过阅读课文,学生不仅了解几种常见的污染问题和作为社会公民应履行的责任,

还得到了一定的情感教育,勇于承担社会责任。同时也能提高学生归纳信息的能力;掌握课文中

出现的词汇,短语;归纳掌握主语从句和表语从句的构成和用法。

Teaching objectives:

一.Learning objectives:

Ability Objects:

1. Foster the Ss’ ability of comprehending passages, especially their ability of

analyzing the sentence structures. Help the Ss learn how to scan the text and get

detailed information.

2. Offer the Ss chances of self-culture by working in groups and the competition between

two classes.

Knowledge Objects:

1. Help the Ss further understand the passage and finish the relevant tasks correctly.

2. Enable the students to master the important phrases and sentences in the text.

3. Help the Ss talk about what we can do for our better environment.

二. Emotional goals:

1. 培养学生自主学习意识;小组合作学习,探究学习的良好习惯。

2. 通过对课文的学习,让学生了解现今存在的环境污染问题。激发学生的主人翁意识,做一名

6. Inductive method to make the Ss understand the text better.

Teaching difficult points:

Help the Ss master the usages of the important phrases the text includes and help

the students express their opinions on the environment protection.

Teaching Process:

Step 1: Greetings

T: My dear students, it‘s a fine day, isn’t it ?

Today we’ll start our class with one motto as usual. Please look at it.

“ Confidence in yourself is the first step on the road to success!”

自信是走向成功的第一步!

(Ask the students to try to guess the meaning of it. )

As we all know, confidence plays an important role in our daily life.

So I hope all of you can do everything with confidence. With confidence, we are going

to have an English competition today. There’re three items in the competition today.

I’ll divide you into two groups: Group A PK Group B. I hope all of you will try your

best to become the final winner. I believe as long as you have confidence, all of you

are . Are you ready? Come on. Let’s go!

Step 2: Revision (Competition One 必答题部分)

(There’re four different groups of exercises , which have different marks . Each group

of you should send one student to choose and answer it. )

1. Lead in the title of Unit 10 --- “Environment” by some pictures and a video.

 Pictures: Our earth is always smiling.

Our earth is in tears.

 Discussion: Why is she crying? Why is she so sad?

Have we done something bad to her?

T: Environmental problems are becoming more and more serious all over the world.

For example, cars have made the air unhealthy for people to breathe and poisonous gas

is given off by factories. Trees on the hills have been cut down and waste water is being

poured continuously into rivers. Furthermore, wherever we go today, we can find rubbish

carelessly disposed. Pollution is, in fact, threatening our existence.

 Questions:

 Q1: What can you see in these pictures?

 Q2: What is the biggest problem facing the earth?

 Q3: What causes the problem?

 Q4: What can we do to solve the problem?

 Q5: What do you expect to learn in this unit?

 Q6: How will you use what you have learnt in your own life?

2. Show two different pictures about air pollution and ask the students to compare and

express which picture they prefer to lead in the title of the reading “Under the Blue

Sky”.

Step Four: Reading ( Competition Two 抢答题部分)

(It contains three parts.)

抢答ing with True or False questions:

 The sky is as blue as it used to be.

 The unreasonable production doesn’t lead to pollution.

 The death rate of diseases related to air pollution isn’t higher than that of

traffic accidents or AIDS.

 We should work hard o fight against pollution and protect the environment.

1) What is covering the industrial cities?

A blanket of smog is covering the industrial cities.

2) What now harms everyone in the world?

Air pollution now harms everyone in the world.

3) What is coal used for?

Coal is used in industry and also for heating and cooking.

4) How many people die of diseases related to air pollution in the United States in a

year according to the Natural Resources Defense Council?

About 50,000 people a year.

5) What would help to protect and to improve the environment?

Little things like reusing, not littering around and walking or biking instead of

driving cars would help to protect and to improve the environment.

Step Five: Discussion( Competition Three 自由发挥题)

T: Please look at this picture. Can you tell me what they’re doing and what’s wrong

with our earth. Our earth is injured and she is being sent to hospital. Please do

not just be a man of great speeches and big words. Remember that we need ACTION.

Let’s take actions to save it and we need your participation.

 Try to discuss:

What can we do for our better environment according to the given pictures.

(Ask the students to discuss it in groups, and then show their answers. As long as

one student stands up and show her opinion, her group can get one point.

Step Six: Summary

 The result of the competition---- Congratulations

 Summary to the whole lesson

T: In this class, we practised our listening, speaking and reading skills. All

of you behaved very actively. I’m quite satisfied. In addition, we talked about

the serious problem we’re facing----- Pollution. There goes the saying “ Unity

is strength”, so we’d better get others to join us. It’s time that you made

a speech to appeal for (呼吁) citizens’ support and action.

( Ask the students to stand up and swear following the teacher.)

 T: The earth is our home and we have the duty to take care of it for ourselves

and for our later generations. Fortunately, more and more people have realized

these problems. Measures have been taken to cope with these problems by the

government. Laws have been passed to stop pollution. We believe that as long

as all of us join hands, small changes must make a big difference. And we believe

our home will become better and better.

Step Six: Homework

 Think over what you did, you should do, you could do, you’re doing, and you will

do. And write all these in your diary.

 Try to design a poster about protecting the environment, and show it next class.
