Lesson 19 课文&语法讲解 Key Point——情态动词may/can 一、 复习情态动词 1) 情态动词是动词,可以作谓语,表达情感、态度 2) 不能单独使用,后接动词原形 3) 情态动词通常没有人称的变化 4) 情态动词的时态变化有限(现在时和过去式) must —— must may —— might can —— could 有两种理解方式: will —— would 对应词的过去式;对现在的更委婉的语气 shall —— should 5) 情态动词变否定和疑问 You can make it You cannot make it Can you make it? 6) 情态动词must的用法 a) 表示推测 与should、may、might、can't想比must可能性最高,所以一般翻译为“一定、肯定” b) 表示不可避免 一般推测现在较多 she must be 35 years old.(只是根据外观、装扮等推测是35岁) I must do my homework now. —— I have to do it. 二、 课文部分Sold out 票已售完 1. May I have your name? 在允许的陈述句中可以搭配任意人称 -May I come in? -Yes, you may come in. c) might是may的过去式,也可以表示更为委婉的语气。 She and Robert's father had not given up hope that he might be alive. I can't give you details b) 表示请求、允许。与may的不同是,在疑问句中可以搭配所有人称 Can he help you? -Can I help you? -You can help me to find my size. c) 表示推测(通常是否定的推测)不应该是、不可能是 -Is that your brother? -It can't be him, he is abroad. d) could是can的过去式,也可以表示更为委婉的语气(建议、希望、愿意)。 I could see that something was terribly wrong.
