Generally speaking, EXPLORE queries in Looker often take a fair amount of time to load, before the database is queried, while Looker is using the query spec to load the LookML and generate the SQL needed. But most dashboards load right away, meaning that within a second or two after loading the dashboard, we see the skeleton of the tiles of the dashboard and the tiles start to run. So it seems that dashboards save data that enables their tiles to load quickly.
But all of a sudden I see some dashboards taking MUCH longer for the initial load. I have up to 30 seconds with the following "loading animation" before I even see the skeleton of the dashboard tiles:
Does anyone know what the exact difference is between dashboards that load their tile skeleton right away and dashboards that require a lot of time for the initial load? And can I do anything to the slow-loading dashboard to speed that up? It is already in a public folder.
Note that we're not talking at all about database time, it's pre-database time.
Thanks!
